RANTS, RAVES, AND RALLIES ARCHIVES

I'm not a gadgets girl. I've never been into those little gadgets that help make your life easier. After all, if you have a pen and paper and some other previous versions of the gadgets, you're ok, right? Well, Cliff is definitely a gadget guy. His enthusiasm for gadgets is starting to get me excited about them too. Since I started dating Cliff I've gotten some hand-me-down gadgets: a Palm Pilot, a digital camera, and an iPod. And you know what? I really like all those gadgets. The funny thing is that I think what has keeped me from getting these gadgets before now is that I don't own a computer that's really powerful enough to handle the data transfer for them. But since I can use Cliff's I'm all about organizing with my Palm, listening to my iPod, and snapping shots with my digital camera. Heck, getting hand-me-down gadgets is just as good as new ones. I don't want to jump too far into technology, so I'll take the "beginner models" when he advances into something better.

Today is payday. What does that mean to me? Well, while I don't feel that I really get paid enough for what I do, I'm very happy to have a job. Sometimes I get frustrated when I hear people complaining about work. Some people feel that their nice cushy desk jobs are no better than servitude simply because the pay isn't that great. Well, it could always be worse. You could be on your feet all day, every day and doing heavy manual labor for the same amount or less. Not only that but while I might say I don't get paid enough for what I do, when it comes down to it, my job and many other office jobs are really slack. Then there are the people who don't have jobs and feel like they have to make a certain amount or not work. I know one of these people personally, and not only does she not have an education to be making $30,000 a year, but she hasn't worked in probably 10 years. I understand that people want to make as much as possible, but if you haven't worked in a long time, chances are people won't hire you. Also, if you don't have an education or some sort of marketable skill, then what makes you think you deserve more than someone who does. And where I come from any wage is better than zero dollars. At the very least, a person will make minimum wage when they are hired on, and while it is tough to live on that small amount, it's even tougher living on nothing.

I had posted an event in June to have at Club Zodiac, a going out of business party. But as happens sometimes, I decided that the party needed to be a private affair with some people I really like hanging out with. I'm having a pizza party now, with some delicious homemade pizza pies. Why did I cancel? I guess I just got tired of feeling like people thought that when I open my doors for a party, it's an invitation for people to come in and criticize my lifestyle, choices, and otherwise things that are none of their business. If people have a problem with the way I live, with the party content, or even with my decor, the door is not that far away. Don't just hang around to gather more ammo for bashing later. That kinda crap just gets on my nerves.

Oh, before I forget, "Happy Belated Birthday" to my sister, Jennifer. Her birthday was yesterday.

You know the saying, "Whatever's good for the goose is good for the gander". I sincerely believe this is a true statement. However, I'm usually too nice to point out that if I do something that someone has similarly engaged in that I don't complain about it when they do it. This isn't referring to anything specific that's happened. I was just thinking about it today when I was riding the bus. Sometimes you hear snippets of conversation, and of course, if someone is complaining about something, I always wonder if it's because they've never engaged in the act they complain of. But then again, what do I know? I'm sure I do the exact damn thing sometimes.

Today is Cliff's birthday. Sending out a big "Happy Birthday" to my most amazing boyfriend. It's also my nephew Austin's birthday, so "Happy Birthday" to him as well.

I have returned...although, I wish I was still there. We had a great time doing all the touristy things, seeing a different country, and just living a more relaxed, free life. Nothing to rant about, so that's a plus. Guess my blog will be kind of boring until someone or something pisses me off. Photos to be posted soon.

Holy crap! Only 2 more days until it's off to Amsterdam. There is still so much to do. Cleaning, packing, bills to pay, cat care review, printing tourist cards...think I'll go crazy? BTW, Yahoo! freaking sucks. I've been a member with the same account for 9 years, and now that someone has hacked my account, I'm getting the run around from Yahoo! Well, if I never get it back, at least I have other options.
