![]() The Streets of New York Kelly and I began our journey (after a sleepless night of driving from NC to NY) by setting out to see the sights. We decided the best way to do this would be to walk from our hotel to Times Square. Looking back, that was a stupid idea. We must have walked 50 blocks. My feet were killing me. All along the way, Kelly and I kept commenting how the city looked similar to Charlotte. Well, we changed that tune once we hit Times Square. It was almost a sensory overload because of all the advertisments, high rises, and crowds of people.
![]() I was amazed by how much advertising there is. From jumbo-trons to billboards to elaborate sculptures, advertisements are a big part of the New York scene.
![]() ![]() I took the above pictures because I don't usually think of churches and other religious institutions when I think of the bustle of New York. Also, they are very beautiful renderings.
![]() Although Kelly and I didn't visit the interior of Madison Square Garden, I took this picture since we were just across the street from it. I always think of MSG as one of the most well-known places in the City.
![]() This is a picture of Kelly and Dominic, a guy we met while in pursuit of Kelly's favorite band, Good Charlotte. We watched an interview of GC through the window of the Fuse building (actually, Kelly stood on the window ledge and watched, while I stood behind her to keep her from falling and fielded inquiries from passers-by about the fascination inside). After the interview, Kelly, Dom, and I went out for a drink and then back to his place to listen to Good Charlotte and hang out. To this day, Kelly and I agree that Dominic saved our trip. Because of the sensory overload we were both feeling (2 small-town Southern girls alone in the big metropolis), we had contemplated leaving a few days earlier than we intially expected. After Dominic showed us around for a bit, we decided to stay for the duration. Thanks a mil, Dom. |
